Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan fans have reason to cheer. The first look poster of the much delayed Vishwaroopam 2 was released on Tuesday.

After lying in the cans for nearly two years, the sequel, which is likely to release in 2017 was written as well as directed by Kamal Haasan. The first look poster shows an injured Kamal with the national flag flying over his chest. The first Vishwaroopam was about terrorism and ran into controversy - which Kamal later alleged was politically motivated - over its projection of Muslims as terrorists.

In an interview to Mumbai Mirror, Haasan explained the reason for the delay. “My producer was multitasking with many films but I have now taken over the responsibility of taking my product to the audience. All the actors are returning, even those who died in the first part. The surprise new addition is Waheeda Rehman ji.”

He also said that just like its predecessor, the sequel too takes on terrorism. “Not only the film but all of us will, again and again, take on terrorism,” he asserted. While the original was set in the US, the sequel has been shot in India as well as several international locations.”

Most of the sequel has already been shot. The team has begun work on the post-production, especially on visual effects. Ghibran has commenced work on the re-recording and background score.
