A day after an arrest warrant was issued against his brother, an FIR was registered against All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi, for allegedly promoting 'enmity' between different groups.

The complaint was filed by the city in-charge of Hindu Yuva Vahini's Gorakhpur unit, Ram Bhual Kushwaha, against Owaisi and one Mohammed Sultan for allegedly posting an objectionable picture of BJP MP Yogi Adityanath on Facebook, a report in PTI adds.

However, when asked by the news agency, Senior Superintendent of Police Luv Kumar denied that a case has been registered against Owaisi and said his name might have been mentioned due to clerical mistake.

However, no changes have been made to the FIR yet.

The complaint was filed at Rajghat police station and the FIR was lodged under section 153(A) of IPC (promoting enmity between different groups).

The complaint pertained to a picture of Adityanath that was morphed and "made objectionable" before being posted on the Facebook page titled “I Support Asaduddin Owaisi” on May 20.

While Owaisi allegedly shared the post earlier, the post was shared by Mohammed Sultan on Wednesday.

The Hindu Yuva Vahini, is a Hindu group founded by Adityanath which has a strong presence in Uttar Pradesh.
