 Hoshiyar Singh, a national fencing champion, died on Thursday after he was allegedly thrown off a train by the railway police in Uttar Pradesh.  Singh was returning to his hometown Kasganj from Mathura and had boarded his mother and wife in the women's coach before making his way to the general coach. According to a report in NDTV, Singh reportedly came to check on his wife, when the railway police demanded a fine of Rs.200 from him for entering the women's coach and threw him off the train when he refused to comply. Singh's family has demanded a case of murder against the policemen, who claim that the athlete slipped and fell. The police however, claim that the athlete slipped and fell while boarding the train after he got off at a station to drink water.Hoshiyar Singh won the bronze medal in an under-17 championship in 2005.
