A commission set up to look in to the alleged gender segregation approach of Farook college in Kerala, after some boys and girls were suspended for sharing  bench inside the class, has said that college authorities has threatened students for appearing in front of Commission to give statements.

Recently a girl student complained to the Principal that her department Head abused and threatened her for appearing before the commission.

The commission has also reportedly informed that many students have raised similar complaints about the college management.

“We have taken note of it. Many other students have also told us that they were threatened by the college authorities for raising complaints of gender segregation,” a commission member told The Times of India.

The Commission headed by advocate RV Rajesh was constituted when some students were suspended from college for sitting with girls inside the classroom. Later except a student, Dinu Veyil, all others were reinstated as Dinu was not ready to apologise. This had led to huge storm of protest against the college.

The ToI reports that commission has prima facie found evidence of gender segregation inside campus.

“During our sitting we found gender-segregated spaces at the college canteen, which is a clear sign of discrimination. The students also complained that the college authorities were not allowing boys and girls to be part of a single drama team,“ a Commission member AM Ramesan told ToI.
