The DMK and Congress have assured that they will send their representatives for VCK’s meet against uniform civil code (UCC) scheduled to be held on November 14 in Chennai, and this is being seen as a platform for the Dalit party to cozy up to the main opposition party, reports The New Indian Express.

On Monday evening, members of VCK party including Mohammed Yusuf, treasurer Yusuf and deputy general secretary Aloor Shanavas visited Rajya Sabha MP and DMK women’s wing leader Kanimozhi to invite her to the meeting.

Shanavas told TNIE that they had met Kanimozhi and she had said that after consulting with DMK leader Karunanidhi she will send a representative for the meet.

Moreover, VCK leaders also met Congress president of Tamil Nadu S Thirunavukkarasar and he too showed interest in participating in the meet.

The New Indian Express reports that such a move by VCK will give them an opportunity to warm up to DMK and its allies.

A political observer said that VCK has been showing interest in coming closer to DMK. It cannot remain in People’s Welfare Alliance (PWA) as it did not get any votes in the last elections.

VCK tried to warm up to DMK when they organized the ‘All party meet’ but had to stay away at the last moment. However, VCK promised support to Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy who is seeking mandate in Nellithope constituency.
