As politicians and actors were welcomed with a red carpet in Chennai's VIP polling booths in Gopalpuram and Stella Maris college on Cathedral road, a polling booth at Saidapet showed a stark contrast.

While many senior citizens and disabled persons who voted at Stella Maris college were provided with wheelchairs on Monday morning, many who turned up at a Saidapet booth, were allegedly not provided any facilities to help them vote.

Despite a ramp being present at the polling booth, it was cordoned off and the voters were forced to take the stairs.

One voter's family narrates how they had to carry a family member up and down the stairs in order for him to vote, while another voter says that he had to walk up the stairs with difficulty as he had no other option.
