Kalyani Priyadarshan made her acting debut in Tollywood with the Akhil Akkineni starrer Hello and is slowly making inroads in the film industry. Her second film, Chitralahari released to positive reviews. Directed by Kishore Tirumala the film had Sai Dharam Tej in the lead with Sunil, Nivetha Pethuraj and Vennela Kishore in supporting roles. The film was bankrolled by Mythri Movie Makers. She then starred in Ranarangam, which did not fare too well at the box office.

Kalyani is all set to debut in the Malayalam film industry with her dad Priyadarshan’s directorial, Marakkar: Arabikadlinte Simham. She will be making a cameo appearance in this history film that has Mohanlal playing the title role.

While Marakkar is in the post-production stages, Kalyani has bagged her first Malayalam film has a heroine. She is paired opposite Dulquer Salmaan in this untitled film that will mark the directorial debut of Anup Sathyan, son of veteran director Sathyan Anthikad.

Anup Sathyan will not only be wielding the megaphone for this venture but also scripting it. Plans are on to release this flick next year. The technical crew signed up includes Alphonse for music and Mukesh Muraleedharan for cinematography. More details about the debut of Anoop Sathyan are expected to be out soon.

Happy over the way his daughter’s career is taking shape, Priyadarshan tweeted, “My daughters 1st Malayalam film started shooting. Every parent feel proud whn they get2 see the success of their children. Me and ur mother will b proud 2c u on screen especially in Malayalam film along with Dulquer Salmaan. My wishes to Anoop Sathyan’s Debut Film.”

The shooting of this film began in Chennai recently and is under progress.

Kalyani will be making her Tamil debut with Sivakarthikeyan's next tentatively titled Hero helmed by PS Mithran who made Irumbu Thirai. The film also stars Ivana as the second female lead and it has Bollywood actor Abhay Deol playing the baddie.
