The National award winning actor, Dhanush is basking in glory after his directorial debut Power Paandi turned out to be a hit. The film has survived the Baahubali storm by managing to hold on to some screens well into its third week at the box office, which speaks of its success. This has prompted the actor – director to go ahead with a sequel for Power Paandi.

Reports have it that Dhanush is keen on roping in his father-in-law Rajinikanth to play the lead role in the sequel. While Raj Kiran played the central character in Power Pandi, it could be Rajinikanth in the sequel of the emotional family entertainer. Sources say that Dhanush has carved out an emotional role for the Superstar in the sequel and when told about it, Rajinikanth was so impressed that he agreed to hop on board.

Dhanush had directed and produced Power Paandi under his home banner Wunderbar Films. The film had a huge star cast including Raj Kiran, Revathy, Prasanna, Chaya Singh, Vidyu Lekha Raman, Balaji Mohan and Sendrayan. It also featured several celebs such as Dhanush, Madonna Sebastian, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Robo Shankar, Dhivyadharshini, and Stunt Silva in cameo appearances. Sean Rolden had composed music for the film with Velraj cranking the camera and GK Prasanna editing it.

Sources say that Dhanush, despite his busy acting assignments, is working on the script for Power Paandi sequel. An official announcement about the film will be made soon. Meanwhile, the actor’s Enai Noki Paayum Thota, Velai Illadha Pattadhari and Vada Chennai are in various stages of production.

If Dhanush gets Rajini to don the greasepaint for Power Paandi 2, it will be a mega treat for all their fans. It may be noted here that Rajinikanth’s current project 2.0, made on a massive budget, is due for release early next year.
