Darshan’s ‘Kurukshetra’ to release in April

It is well known that Darshan’s fans have been waiting eagerly for the release of Kurukshetra, which will be his 50th film. The film’s release has been postponed several times in the past due to the delay in the post-production work. This historical is being made two formats – 2D and 3D – and the former version has already gone through the censor process and has been certified UA. The 3D version still needs to be certified, which will be done once the post-production is completed, we hear. Reports indicate that the film is scheduled for release in April next year.

Kurukshetra, directed by Naganna, is produced by Muni Ratna under his banner KCN Movies on a big budget. The film is based on the epic Mahabharata with Darshan playing Duryodhana and the story is told from his perspective. Being Darshan’s 50th film, expectations on the film are high.

Made on a budget of Rs 150 crore, Kurukshetra is one of the most expensive films to ever be made in the Kannada film industry. Apart from Darshan, the film has a bevy of stars in the cast including Ambareesh, V Ravichandran, Arjun Sarja, Bharathi Vishnuvardhan, Sneha, Meghana Raj, P Ravi Shankar, Sonu Sood, Nikhil Gowda, Aditi Arya and Shashi Kumar.

Jayanan Vincent has cranked the camera for this film with Jo Ni Harsha doing the editing. Being a high budget film and a historical, the filmmakers plan to release it in various languages, including Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and others.

The shooting for Kurukshetra commenced last year on sets erected for the purpose at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad. Most parts of the film were shot on this set which was reportedly built on a budget of several crores of rupees.

Darshan is also expecting the release of his Yajamana, in which Rashmika Mandanna plays the lead opposite him along with Tanya Hope as the second heroine. Dhananjay, Thakur Anoop Singh and Devaraj will be seen playing significant roles in this flick. Bankrolled by Shylaja Nag and B Suresha, the film is being directed by Pon Kumaran.
