What goes around, comes around. This seems to be holding true not just in real life, but also in the fictional lives of characters in television serials.

Kalyani Devi or Daadi sa in the popular Hindi serial Balika Vadhu, is all set to go to school.

According to a report by News 24, Daadi sa has decided to go to school after a worker in the family's warehouse asked her to help him with calculations. Although an intelligent women, Daadi has not received any formal education and cannot help him with his queries, and thus decides to go to school. She believes that there is no specific age to to learn and receive education.

However, her move comes across as surprising since she is the same person who in the beginning of the serial opposed Anandi, the child bride of her grandson, from going to school. But in the course of the story, she does shed a lot of her inhibitions and emerges as a more liberal woman.

Daadi sa does not wear the uniform that others wear, she sticks to her traditional attire. But she is seen wearing school shoes with socks. The otherwise dreaded grandmother of all does look adorable playing her part as a school student.

The serial begun as an attempt to debunk several orthodox measures and attitudes, like child marriage, which are prevalent and widely practiced in India. Balika Vadhu is one of the most popular shows Colours TV has produced.

Surekha Sikri, two time winner of the National Film Award, has been playing the role of Daadi sa, who is also head of the house, since the serial's inception and is popular for her negative portrayal of the character. She was also awarded the "Best actress in negative role" for the serial in 2008.
