The shooting of Vijay’s Mersal is going on rapidly and the team recently released a song from the album Alaporaan Thamizhan. While fans are waiting for the film’s release, we have some interesting information about its storyline. Apparently, it is a film about two identical twins getting separated at birth and what eventually happens to them. Vijay will be playing three different roles in the movie and he will be seen as the father and the identical twins. Also, we hear that the Thalapathy will be seen as a magician in one of the roles. 

The film has been shot in various places including Chennai, Rajasthan and Andhra apart from some foreign locations where the songs would be canned.

While the story of the film has been penned jointly by Atlee and the Baahubali fame K Vijayendra Prasad, it has been directed by the former. Mersal stars Vijay, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Kajal Agarwal, S. J. Surya, Nithya Menon, Sathyaraj and Vadivelu in important roles. With AR Rahman composing the tunes for the songs, music buffs are waiting eagerly for the soundtrack release scheduled for August 20.

Produced by N. Ramasamy, Hema Rukmani, R. Mahendran and H. Murali under the banner Thenandal Studio Limited on a budget of Rs. 150 crores, the film is touted to hit the marquee this Diwali. Though the shooting is still in progress, its pre-release business in the form of distribution rights has spread a positive word about the film. Thenandal Studio Limited has retained the distribution rights for Tamil Nadu while North Star Entertainment has bagged the rights for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana regions. S Narayan holds the Karnataka rights and Global United Media for Kerala region, while MKS Talkies has bagged the Australia and New Zealand rights.
