Telangana IT Minister KT Rama Rao on Wednesday lashed out at the opposition Congress party in the state, and said that people did not believe in the party’s bus yatra.

KTR, who is also the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) Minister, was speaking after the inauguration of a water treatment plant at Chilpakuntla village in Suryapet district.

“I was reminded of Alibaba and 40 thieves after looking at the bus yatra by Congress leaders.  The bus yatra leaders have a criminal background. After the formation of Telangana, TRS has been supplying round-the-clock power to agriculture sector. :oans worth around Rs 17,000 crore were waived by TRS government. Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has been taking all measures for the welfare of public,” KTR was quoted as saying.

"To me, Jana Reddy is Ali Baba, and all those Congress MLAs sitting in the bus are thieves. Look at the number of police cases against them. They have embarked on a yatra which has no popular support at all. They have deceived the people enough during their rule. They should know that they are not acceptable to the public any more," he added.

KTR also spoke about the water problems that plagued erstwhile Nalgonda district, which had two lakh flourosis victims.

“The Congress which ruled undivided Andhra Pradesh for 55 years is responsible for the issue. There was no flouride issue in the district when Telangana was merged with united Andhra Pradesh. No Congress leader from the district has raised his voice either in the State Legislature or outside for supply of safe drinking water in flouride affected areas,” the Minister alleged.

Last month, state Congress chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy announced that he and his wife and sitting legislator Padmavathi Reddy would retire from politics if the Congress did not come to power in next elections.

However, he said that KCR must also announce that he, along with his son KTR, daughter K Kavitha and nephew T Harish Rao, should retire from politics if TRS loses the elections.
