Telugu Desam Party leaders and advocates have filed a complaint against YSR Congress Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday, for his inflammatory speech against Andhra CM Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. There is no confirmation yet on whether an FIR has been filed.

The Pattabhipuram police have however confirmed that they have received complaints against Jagan for disturbing public harmony and hurting religious sentiments.

Addressing a crowd at Nandyal town on Thursday, Jagan had said, "A person like Chandrababu Naidu should be shot in public.”

Jagan's comments triggered off a massive political response in the state, as TDP and YSRCP leaders took jibes at each other on Friday.

Several local TDP leaders also headed to their nearest police station, to file a complaint against the YSRCP chief.

News18 reported that one police complaint was filed against him by TDP leader Mallela Rajshekhar. "It's not right to say shoot CM on road. Nandyal is a very sensitive place and clashes can happen. So, I have filed this complaint to SP so that he takes action," he was quoted as saying.

In a joint representation, TDP leaders said that Jagan's comments had hurt them deeply, and demanded an unconditional apology from him.

TDP Kurnool District President Somisetty Venkateswarlu had told TNM on Friday morning that the statement had also irked many party workers in the poll-bound constituency of Nandyal, who now wanted to file a case against Jagan in their personal capacity.

While TDP leaders lashed out at him and demanded an apology from him, YSRCP leaders continued to defend him.

"The TDP has ignored all the other things that he (Jagan) said and is continuously pointing fingers only at that one statement. He said that people (like Naidu) who played with people's lives and destroyed the state, should be shot on the road. However, he did not say that he himself will shoot or kill Naidu," YSRCP MLA Roja told TV9.

This is also not the first case to be booked against Jagan in recent times.

In March this year, an FIR was registered against him by the Nandigama police, for misbehaving with a government official and preventing him from discharging his duties.

The complaint came after Jagan visited a hospital to meet those injured in a bus accident, and allegedly snatched papers from a doctor, pulled up Krishna District Collector A Babu and threatened to send him to jail.
