An Indian man wanted for multiple murders was arrested by Indonesian police on the resort island of Bali on Sunday.
For sometime it remained unclear if the man arrested was underworld don Chhota Rajan or serial killer Cyanide Mohan. A local paper Tribune Regional reported that Cyanide Mohan was arrested but published a photograph that resembles that of Chhota Rajan.
Jakarta Post quoted Associate Press, “A former Indian primary school teacher facing the death penalty in his homeland for the murders of 20 young women has been arrested on the Indonesian resort island of Bali, police said Monday. He was arrested Sunday after arriving at Bali's airport from Sydney, based on a red notice from Interpol and following a tip from Australian authorities, said Denpasar Police chief detective Reinhard Habonaran Nainggolan.”
But what is strange is that cyanide Mohan was convicted in 2013 and has been lodged in Hindalga jail in Belagavi. What is intriguing is why and how cyanide Mohan's name surfaced. Did the man arrested take his name?
Chhota Rajan- a former accomplice of Dawood Ibrahim- has been on the run for more than two decades and is wanted by Indian authorities in several murders and extortion cases.
The CBI and the Home Ministry have now confirmed that the person arrested is Chhota Rajan.
Who is Cyanide Mohan?
Cyanide Mohan a primary school teacher turned serial killer, has murdered at least 20 to-be-married women by poisoning them with cyanide between 2005 to 2009. He would lure them into marriage by telling them that he would not take dowry.
He would have intercourse with them and would give them a cyanide tablet claiming it to be a contraceptive. He was awarded the death penalty in December 2013.
