Tollywood mega star Chiranjeeve has bagged the remake rights of the hit Malayalam movie Lucifer which marked the directorial debut of actor Prithviraj.

Lucifer starred Mohanlal in the lead role along with a bevy of stars including Manju Warrier, Indrajith Sukumaran and the Bollywood star Vivek Oberoi. Kalabhavan Shajon, Sai Kumar, Saniya Iyappan, director Fazil, Sunil Sughatha, Thara Kalyan, Praveena Thomas, Nyla Usha and Mala Parvathy all played supporting roles.

The technical crew of the film comprised of Sujith Vasudevan handling cinematography, Samjith editing and Stephen Devassy in charge of the music composition. Veteran writer and actor Murali Gopy penned the script for the political thriller. It was produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner Aashirvad Cinemas.

With Chiru keen on reprising the role done by Mohanlal in Lucifer, speculations are buzzing the grapevine about who will be brought on to direct the Telugu version. Reports have stated that Allu Arjun starrer Arya-fame director Sukumar will be brought on board for the remake. The film will be produced by Chiru’s son and actor Ram Charan Teja under their banner Konidela Production Company.

Director Sukumar shares a good rapport with both Chiru and Ram Charan. He had earlier directed Rangasthalam which had Ram Charan playing the lead role. Rangasthalam released on 30th March last year and turned out to be a massive hit. The film joined the 100 crore club indicating that it was a massive success at the box office. Devi Sri Prasad had composed music for this venture with Rathnavelu cranking the camera and Navin Nooli editing it. It was bankrolled by Naveen Yerneni, Y Ravi Sankar and Mohan Cherukuri under the banner Mythri Movie Makers and was distributed by Ram Charan’s Konidela Production Company.
