Parents of Ravindra Bharthi Global School in Medavakkam have complained that their children were made to sit in the library for eight hours on Friday as punishment after the former protested against high fees charged by the school.

One parent told TNIE, “We were not intimated about this until we reached the school to pick up our kids. It was upsetting to see them crying when we reached, some are as young as eight years.”

The parents said that they were not expecting such an action from the school authorities as they had been promised a meeting with the academic director.

R. Gopal, secretary of the Parents Association of the school, told the newspaper that they had been waiting to meet the management to discuss various issues like emergency exits in buildings and no stability certificate.

He added that the parents of pre-KG students had been charged a fee of Rs 70,000 and high schools students had been charged Rs 90,000.

He said that the parents want a letter of assurance that the children will not be punished in this manner. Meanwhile, teachers have said that the students will be given a TC if the parents are not satisfied with the school, according to TNIE.
