A matrimony service provider in Chennai has been arrested in Chennai for allegedly recording his staff in the dressing room when they were changing clothes and blackmailing them with it.

According to TNIE, K Kathiresan (49), the accused, runs Vaishnavi Matrimony Centre at Valasaravakkam and had hired a couple from Thanjavur a year ago. They were alloted a staff bedroom and told that they will be paid by cheque. In a addition to working for the matrimony services, they reportedly also maintained his house and his 5 dogs.

Police who investigated the case told TNM that the problem started when the couple demanded their salaries. The cheque that Kathiresan gave them reportedly bounced and the bank said that there was no money in his account. When they went back to their employer, he used the footage captured on CCTV to threaten them.

"Basically parts of the staff quarter had CCTVs installed. The staff would come out of the bathroom to wear their clothes and he would have all these recorded visuals," said an investigating officer. "After the threatened them, the staff came to us. We investigated the matter and then arrested him," he adds.

Kathiresan was reportedly remanded to judicial custoday and then moved to Puzhal prison. He has been booked under section 354 (sexual harrassment).
