The Chennai police on Tuesday arrested a 25-year-old house help and launched a man hunt for her 41-year-old boy friend, for allegedly murdering a school teacher and her mother, and attempting to kill the teacher's two daughters in Pesil Garden in Kundrathur.
According to reports, the couple allegedly committed the crime, for gold jewelry worth a little more than Rs 5 lakh.

Police made the arrests on evidence from Surabishree, whose throat the killers slit but survived the assault, regaining consciousness on Tuesday morning to alert a neighbour and rescue her little sister, who survived an attempt to smother her, and lead police to the killers. An investigating officer identified the victims as Thenmozhi, 32, a teacher at a private school in Kolapakkam and her mother Vasantha.
