The News Minute | March 29, 2015 | 11:06 am IST The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) recently banned Unfreedom, a "contemporary thriller about a society torn apart by political, religious, and sexual turmoil," states a report by The Times of India. Part of the story revolves around a young woman and her struggles to escape an arranged marriage because she is gay and is in a relationship with another woman. According to the report, the Censor Board had issues with the nudity and love making scenes between the two women in the movie. The board was also against the other part of the film, which is about a terrorist attempting to silence a liberal Muslim scholar. Raj Amit Kumar, the director of the movie, told TOI that the film was refused by both the Examining Committee and the Revising Committee."They plainly told me that after watching the film, Hindu and Muslims will start fighting and will ignite unnatural passions. I was aghast as my film is not provocative." The director is now making an appeal in the high court.
