Veteran Congress leader V.M. Sudheeran filed a police complaint on Sunday after finding small copper plates sealed in a bottle and buried in the garden of his home in Thiruvananthapuram -- hinting at someone targeting him with “black magic”.

Sudheeran told the media that he has faced such incidents in the past also but this time he had decided to inform the police about it.

"This is the ninth time this has happened. All the things that were recovered have been handed over to the police. I feel sorry for those behind this as even in modern times, people continue to believe in such things," he said.

The practice of black magic or witchcraft was common in Kerala in earlier times. The belief was that if certain things are buried in somebody's house, they will fall on bad times.

Later, taking to Facebook, the senior Congress leader shared photographs of the items that he reportedly retrieved from the bottle.

“Eyes, legs, arms, figure of a man, white stones… these are some of the things we retrieved today. This is not the first time, but the ninth. In earlier instances, the items used to be different. As before, I continue to see this as a useless trick. I decided to inform everyone since this is happening more often now. I have handed over all of this to the Medical College police,” Sudheeran posted in Malayalam along with the two photos.

Speaking to TNM, Medical College Sub-inspector said that they have removed the items from Sudheeran’s house.

“He hasn’t filed a complaint in this regard, but just wanted to inform us about this, since it is happening for the ninth time now. We have removed them from his compound. There’s no case registered in this matter,” he said.
