A BJP worker on Friday was hacked by three unidentified persons in Kerala’s Thrissur district.

Thirty-year-old Vishnu Prasad has been admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Ashwini hospital in Thrissur with injuries to his head and arms, said police.

He was hacked at around 10.30 am in Pavaratty by a group of attackers who came in a car and followed Vishnu’s motorbike.

The police have registered a case of attempt to murder.

Meanwhile, reports say that the BJP has alleged the involvement of CPI (M) activists in the incident.

However, Sub-Inspector of Pavaratty police station Arun told The News Minute that no political motive has been established so far.

“Vishnu’s brother is an accused in the killing of a CPI (M) worker Shihab over a year ago. Vishnu is also a BJP worker. But apart from that, we cannot confirm at this point, whether this incident is politically motivated,” he said.

Pavaratty police have recorded the statement of Vishnu’s relatives.
