Senior members of BJP along with VHP convened a meeting on Thursday near Agra, demanding the closure of a madrassa, whose students allegedly sexually assaulted a Hindu girl.

The incident occurred on Wednesday in Runakta, 20 km from Agra, when a group of students belonging to the madrassa allegedly forcibly took an 11-year-old girl behind a temple and tried to molest her.

Talking to TOI, BJP district president Ashok Rana said, “A terrorist arrested by Rajasthan police last week told cops that he stayed in this madrassa for a week. Not even a single student of this institution hails from Agra or nearby cities. Madrassas are meant to teach local students. Doesn't Agra have Muslim kids? Then why do they admit only outsiders?“

"If the madrassa boys have attempted to assault the girl, it should be closed. If the madrassa students have committed the crime, action will be taken against them," said Mohd Agaz, a local Muslim leader.

An identification parade of boys belonging to the madrassa has been conducted.

SP RK Singh said the matter is under investigation and the accused would be apprehended soon.
