BJP general secretary Ram Madhav on Thursday urged Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan to ensure that CPI(M) cadres are reigned in, especially those who indulged in political violence against BJP workers in the state.

While briefing the media on the BJP’s outreach programme in 200 towns and cities, Madhav reiterated that the saffron party would not kowtow to violence unleashed against their party workers. He went on to term it a major issue that the Kerala CM would have to deal with on priority.

“Let us indulge in ideological debates not violence. We should aim for constructive constitutional politics,” Madhav was quoted as saying.

Earlier in the day, Ravi Shankar Prasad -Union Minister for Communications and Technology- too had exhorted Pinarayi to take concrete steps to bring an end to the frequent attacks on BJP and RSS workers in the state.

He was speaking at an inauguration of a meeting of family members of workers who ended up as victims of Left violence after the new government came to power in May 2016. Prasad stonrgly condemned the sustained attacks on the RSS and BJP cadre in various parts of the state including Pinarayi in Kannur, which also happens to be the native place of the state chief minister.
