A 28-year-old software engineer residing in Bengaluru was arrested by the police on Friday, for allegedly raping his woman colleague, video-graphing the incident and uploading it on a porn site.
The Times of India reports that Arindam, a native of West Bengal, was residing in Ejipura in the city.
According to the complaint filed by his woman colleague, Arindam professed his love for her and invited her to his Ejipura flat last year and raped her.
Arindam then told the 26-year-old woman that he had video-graphed the incident and reportedly blackmailed her by threatening to upload the video on porn sites, if she did not visit him.
Left with no options, the woman was forced to yield to Arindam's demands and was subsequently raped several times.
At one point, Arindam demanded money from her, which she refused.
She also stopped acceding to his demands and Arindam proceeded to upload the video on a porn site.
The woman filed a complaint with the Viveknagar police on September 6, at the insistence of her friend.
According to the report, the woman had attempted to commit suicide, following which her friend convinced her to seek help from the police.
The woman first approached the cyber crime police, who reportedly erased the video from the website and directed her to the jurisdictional police station.
Arindam was booked under section 376 (punishment for rape), 384 (punishment for extortion) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of IPC, and section 66E (punishment for violation of privacy) and other relevant sections of the IT Act.
