The news about a Bengaluru man, who was caught last month for selling drugs through a Facebook page, doesn’t seem to have deterred peddlers in the city from keeping clear of the illegal activity.

On December 10, cops seized 5kg of marijuana and 23 blots of LSD from the residence of Srihari S, a 23-year-old Bengaluru techie, and also arrested his associate as well, reported The Times of India.

Police said that Srihari was a BTech graduate from Hyderabad and had come to Bengaluru to find a job. What gave him away was his phone number that he had left as a reply to a post on the "Bangalore Weed Smokie" Facebook page for a customer.

The cops called him up acting as customers. "The deal was set and Srihari asked our policemen to meet him at a place in Kadugodi. Srihari was waiting at he pre-designated place when Kadugodi police caught him," police said.

TOI quoted DCP (southeast) Rohini Katoch Sepat saying, “From Srihari's paying guest accommodation in Chalaghatta, we seized 5kg of marijuana and 23 blots of LSD. We also arrested his associate, Arjun (25). We believe Arjun was the one who supplied the drugs to Srihari for sale.”

However, the page has since been taken down and the police are trying to trace the people from whom Srihari sourced the drugs.

"He is an addict and used his contacts in Hyderabad to source drugs,"  Rohini said.
