Bengaluru city police on Wednesday arrested a man for raping a minor in Hulimavu area in the city on Monday evening, reported Bangalore Mirror.

The accused identified as Daniel and the girl knew each other for over six months.

The 24-year-old had allegedly drugged the girl before raping her in a vacant house in Hulimavu. She was dropped off in the vacant house by another person, on the pretext of a party.

Bengaluru police filed a case under POCSO Act on Tuesday, and they took her to Bowring hospital for a medical test, reported BM.

Maya (name changed) is currently being treated in a private hospital.

BM reported that deputy commissioner of police (central) Sandeep Patil on Wednesday said Daniel was arrested and was subjected to a medical test.

According to BM, the girl, who is a student in a private college, in her complaint said that she had gone to meet a classmate on Monday night.

A while later a few more friends joined in. They allegedly asked Maya and her friend to join them at a birthday party of Daniel, another common friend.

“She got on the bike with a youth who is a close friend of Daniel,” Maya’s cousin said.

Maya’s cousin reportedly said that Maya was taken to a vacant house, where Daniel gave her fruit juice. However, when she refused to drink, he assaulted her.

Maya in her complaint reportedly said that she became unconscious. However, when she woke up Daniel allegedly threatened her saying he had clicked photographs of her and would upload it on Facebook if she told anyone.

She was later reportedly dropped off near Anepalya area, where three men who spotted Maya took her home. One of the men lived in her neighbourhood.

Maya lodged a complaint in Vivek Nagar police station on Tuesday.

“We are questioning Maya’s friend whom she had gone to meet initially to get a clear picture about the circle of friends. The house where the crime was committed seems to be like one of those given on rent for hosting house parties,“ said a police officer.
