The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited fresh applications for various positions in the Indian men’s team including head coach.

"The job openings will put be up on our website in a day or two. Besides the support staff, fresh applications will also be invited for the post of team manager," a BCCI official told PTI.

The other positions for which applications have been solicited are batting coach, bowling coach, fielding coach, physiotherapist, strength and conditioning coach.

Current head coach Ravi Shastri, batting coach Sanjay Bangar, bowling coach Bharat Arun, and fielding coach R Sridhar will get an automatic entry in the selection process.

These four were given a 45-day contract extension following the World Cup and will need to reapply for the posts.

However, the team will get a new trainer and physio after Shankar Basu and Patrick Farhart’s departure following India’s semifinal exit from the World Cup.

While the coaching, strength & conditioning and medical staff will be appointed for the period between September 5, 2019 to Nov 24, 2021, the manager will be named for a one-year period.

India’s next assignment is a tour to the West Indies after which the home season starts with the series against South Africa from September 15.

Shastri was appointed head coach in 2017 after Anil Kumble’s tenure ended abruptly in controversial circumstances.

Former Tamil Nadu captain Sunil Subramanian got an extension as team manager after he was appointed in 2017 on a one-year contract.

The extension period for the current support staff covers the West Indies tour from August 3 to September 3.

The BCCI will be accepting fresh applications till 5pm on July 30.
