BBC India's Twitter handle got into a little trouble on Sunday, after it forgot to mention Sania Mirza's name while tweeting on the women's doubles final win in Wimbledon where Mirza teamed up with Martina Hingis. The tweet which only mentioned Hingis' name and said "Hingis wins Wimbledon doubles final," sparking off outrage as offended Twitterati's demanded a correction from the BBC. The mistake was also pointed out by Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani.  Atleast @BBCIndia corrected their tweet/article and apologised. Small mercies. pic.twitter.com/quxDBY4lfW — shilpi tewari (@shilpitewari) July 12, 2015BBC India then immediately covered up by deleting the old tweet and putting up a new one with a note that said "correcting earlier tweet - apologies" But apologies were not accepted easily, BBC India also had to send out a string of personal apologies to people who kept tagging Sania Mirza and Smriti Irani.@BBCIndia so does Sania Mirza — Smriti Z Irani (@smritiirani) July 12, 2015
