Over the last few weeks, it was widely reported that actor Nandamuri Balakrishna’s upcoming period drama, Gauthamiputra Satakarni, which happens to be his 100th film, will mark the cinematic debut of his 21-year-old son Mokashagna. It turns out, it was just a rumour, and the film won’t feature his son, according to a source. Apparently, the makers have not even considered roping in Mokashagna, simply because there isn’t a role for him in the first place.

Reportedly, Mokashagna was supposed to play Balakrishna’s son in the film, which will be directed by National award-winning filmmaker Krish. However, the source confirmed that the story won’t have any scope for the role as all the focus will be on Balakrishna, who will be essaying the character of an unsung Satavahana ruler from 1st century AD. The regular shooting will start from May 9 in Morocco, where the makers will shoot one of the three mega war sequences in the film.

Tipped to be made on a budget of Rs 75 crore, the film also stars veteran actress Hema Malini, who will be seen as Balakrishna’s mother. The latest addition to the cast is actor Kabir Bedi, who has been roped in for an important role. The makers are yet to finalize the leading lady.
