A Bengaluru-based food delivery boy, who sexually harassed a woman over the phone, was arrested on Monday.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (south) SD Sharanappa said: “Himesh (name changed) working with Foodpanda, a food ordering platform, reportedly had an argument with Lila (name changed), the victim, on July 8 while delivering food at her home in JP Nagar. The victim allegedly asked him to take back the delivery as she did not like it. He later hurled abuses at her. Later he also shared her number on WhatsApp saying she was an escort. The victim was flooded with calls in the night.”
In her complaint, the victim has said that she received calls from the delivery boy asking for sexual favours. By the time she alerted the police, she had got calls from 14 numbers, reported Bangalore Mirror.
The police tracked the accused through the numbers provided by the victim in her complaint.
“A team is working on the case, we have got the details on almost all the callers and we will arrest them shortly,” Sharanappa said.
The officer said that Himesh confessed that he wanted to teach her a lesson.
McDonalds spokesperson said: “We, along with our partners, are investigating the incident involving a complaint regarding threatening and sexually abusive calls to a customer. Though such cases are extremely rare, we take allegations against any of our third-party service providers extremely seriously and, if substantiated, will always take the strongest possible action. We will extend our full support to the customer and will cooperate with the local authorities, in every manner possible.”
