The News Minute | April 6, 2015 | 12:13 p.m. ISTAttending a programme organised by one of the wings of the RSS, Wipro founder Azim Premji said that speaking from the forum did not automatically imply agreement with the views of the RSS.Premji was attending a programme organised by Rashtriya Sewa Bharati on primary education and shared the dais with RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat which was reportedly attended by around 500 NGOs affiliated to the RSS. At the event, which was also attended by Subhash Chandra of Zee and GMR group Chairman GM Rao, Premji was quoted in a report by the Economic Times as saying: “Firstly, I am not a political person. I am, however, deeply interested in and concerned about my country”.He reportedly added that he was honoured to have been invited to the gathering, saying that after having met Mohan Bhagwat “I realised how many people like you all over India were dedicating their lives to the genuine upliftment of our country, with deep commitment to their work”. He also added that all those who were working for a better India should come together, reportedly adding: “And if there are differences of views or divergence of ideas they can only be resolved through discussion and dialogue”.The Wipro chairman also reportedly talked of a revamp of the public education system which needed a more holistic approach after focusing on learning by rote. He also spoke of the need of motivating teachers and also ensuring that children got basic nutrition at schools.“Public education is foundational to democracy. It helps break down social and economic inequalities and helps build an egalitarian, inclusive society”, he said.Premji also touched upon his vision for the country which would be “equitable, humane and sustainable”.
