Audio launch of Sudeep’s ‘Phailwan’ postponed due to Karnataka floods

In a video posted on Twitter, Sudeep said he wished to postpone the audio launch and prioritise helping those in flood-hit areas.

The much-awaited audio launch of Sudeep’s Phailwan was scheduled to happen on Friday in Chitraguda. And the event got even bigger after the announcement that Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar would be gracing the event.

However, with incessant rains inundating several districts and stranding thousands of people in Karnataka, Sudeep announced that he wished to postpone the audio launch. In a video posted on Twitter, he said: “I wish to postpone th audio launch of #Pailwaan to another date as I feel supporting th flood hit areas should be the priority. I request all my frnz to forgive me for this decision of mine. I also thank my friend @PuneethRajkumar for his cooperation.” (sic)

Other noted personalities who were scheduled to attend the event are Lahari Velu and Suniel Shetty. Incidentally, Suniel Shetty is making his debut in Sandalwood with this flick.

Phailwan is an action entertainer starring Kiccha Sudeep in the lead and is produced and directed by S Krishna. The film marks the director’s second time collaboration with Sudeep after the massive success of Hebbuli last year. Incidentally, Krishna’s wife Swapna will be making her debut as a producer with Phailwan by bankrolling it under the banner RRR Productions.

Hollywood stunt director Larnell Stovas has been roped in to choreograph the boxing sequences in the film. The film has Sudeep playing the role of a professional boxer. This required the filmmakers to create some realistic fight sequences, following which the Hollywood stunt director was brought on board. It may be noted that Sudeep also underwent special training in boxing and wrestling abroad to get into the skin of the character.

Arjun Janya has composed the tunes for Phailwan while Karunakar is in charge of the camera. The film’s star cast also includes Sharath Lohithashwa, Sushant Singh and Akanksha Singh.

It may be mentioned here that a video was released on the making of Phailwan, which caught the attention of movie buffs massively and went viral in no time. In the video, there are clips that show the efforts the star has put in to transform himself into a professional wrestler.

Phailwan, which is scheduled to hit the marquee on September 12, will be released in five languages – Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi on a massive scale considering the pan Indian appeal of its lead star.
