In another embarrassment for union Law Minister Sadananda Gowda, his nephew Abhishek MR got into a drunken brawl and allegedly assaulted a bouncer at a bar in Bengaluru.

A case of assault was been filed on January 9 at JP Nagar police station against two men including Abhishek who is the son of Sadanand Gowda’s sister-in-law. The bar manager Anil Gowda recently furnished CCTV footage to the police, which is when the case was picked up by the media.

The law minister told IBN that he was not aware of the issue.

Anil Gowda, who lodged the complaint, said the incident occurred on January 2 when Abhishek and his friend had consumed liquor till 11 pm, which is the closing time for bars in Bengaluru and asked for more after the closing time. “We have CCTV footage to prove that the fight was initiated by Abhishek and Hitesh,” he said.

The bar staff denied them liquor as it was closing time and asked them to leave. This upset Abhishek and he attacked four of the bouncers.

India Today reported that Abhishek had denied the allegations.

Abhishek and Hitesh had first filed a complaint against the bar employees on January 6. The case was booked under various sections of IPC for voluntarily causing hurt.

According to their complaint the brawl started when Abhishek and his friend asked for whiskey, the bartenders handed the duo fake drinks. They filed a complaint at the police station saying the duo were attacked by the bouncers with cue sticks before being thrown out of the premises.

There is already a cheating case against Gowda’s son Karthik Gowda pending since October 2015. Last year, another of Gowda’s nephews, Pradeep was arrested for chopping off the hand of a Malekudiya man in Belthangady in Dakshina Kannada district.
