After impressing audiences and critics alike, Nayanthara’s Aramm has earned the praise of superstar Rajinikanth, who has lauded the team for its overall effort in delivering a hard-hitting film. After watching the film in a special screening on Monday, the Enthiran actor extended his appreciation to the team. Rajinikanth’s vote of confidence should work in the film’s favour and draw audiences to cinemas.

Directed by writer-turned-filmmaker Gopi Nainar, Nayanthara’s abilities and her power as a collector are challenged when she has to deal with a life and death situation. The film, a socio-political thriller, marks the directorial debut of Gopi, who owes his career to Nayanthara and he said he will always be indebted to her. Apparently, Gopi’s script was turned down by many producers before it caught the attention of Nayanthara, who agreed to do the film in just the fifth minute of the narration.

At a press meet in Chennai last Monday, Gopi said that Nayanthara vowed to get the film made when she agreed to be part of the project. “I narrated the script to her at 12 pm and by 3 pm, I was paid advance and asked to not worry about anything. She told me that it’s now her responsibility to get the film made. Even after she came on board, some vested interests tried to stop the film from taking off. Despite all the setbacks, she didn’t give up on the project and ensure that it got made. She owned the film. After we finished shooting, she told me that she not only wants the film to release but also wants to see me succeed. To even hear her say such words meant the world to me,” he said. Amidst rumours that Nayanthara has produced the film, it is her long-time friend K Rajesh who has bankrolled the project. The film has music by Ghibran and also features a host of stars in the supporting cast.

For the uninitiated, Gopi Nainar was embroiled in a controversy over the release of AR Murugadoss’s Kaththi. He had claimed that it’s his story that Murugadoss tweaked and made it into a film with Vijay. While Murugadoss denied all charges and even confirmed to have not known Gopi, the controversy earned a lot of media spotlight. At the press meet, he also said, “The media made me what I’m today. I owe my career to them and to Nayanthara madam. Had they not supported me, I don’t know what I would have done.” He reiterated that Aramm will be a powerful film that will leave an impact on the audience.
