Apple Inc has joined the OTT video streaming business by launching ts own — Apple TV+. The new facility has been made available from Saturday in 100 countries and can be viewed on any of Apple’s devices — iPhones, iPads, iPod Touch and Mac, etc. Those on non-Apple devices can go to the website tv.apple.com and view the programmes.

The Apple TV+ app is available in India too. There is a one-week trial, and is priced at Rs 99 per month. The content may be very less for now, especially content that is India-centric. The company may keep adding.

The shows/films now available for viewing on Apple TV+ are See, The Morning Show, Dickinson, For All Mankind, Helpsters, Snoopy in Space, Ghostwriter, and Oprah Winfrey's Book Club. There is also a documentary, The Elephant Queen.

The programmes will have subtitles in multiple languages. There are reportedly subtitles in 40 languages..

A new customer has to sign in through the Apple TV+ app. The full list of devices on which the Apple TV+ can be watched are iPhone, iPad, Apple TV 4K, Apple TV HD, the third-generation Apple TV device, iPod touch and Mac computers.

As mentioned, Apple is not restricting this facility to only those owning Apple devices. The Roku device, Amazon’s Fire TV Stick and some smart TVs from Samsung too will carry the Apple TV+ app.

Samsung, LG and VIZIO smart TVs can play Apple TV+ through the AirPlay 2, the Wi-Fi technology from Apple.

Lastly, you can just go to tv.apple.com on you PC or laptop and watch the shows. The list of devices is likely to expand further.

For a limited time, those who purchase a new iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac or iPod touch starting September 10 can enjoy one year of Apple TV+ for free.
