Andhra Pradesh police on Friday allegedly seized as many as 15 country-made bombs in Manchikallu village of Rentachintala mandal in Gurazala division. According to reports, police found them in a bucket placed under a car near the residence of Yarapathineni Narasimha Rao, who reportedly belongs to YSRCP.

The incident triggered tension in the area as Macharla YSRCP MLA Pinneli Ramakrishna Reddy along with his partymen, staged a protest at Gurazala DySP office alleging that a false case was being foisted against the YSRCP leader.

Speaking to TNM, Gurazala DySP KVVNV Prasad said that so far no one has been arrested, and the situation is under control.

Manchikallu is the village of Gurazala MLA Srinivasa Rao, and is known for faction rivalries. DySP Prasad said, "We have given notices to Yarapathineni Narasimha Rao under section 160 (A) CrPC over seized bombs."

Srinivasa Rao attends the village festival in December every year. In view of the MLA’s visit to the local temple, police were conducting security checks and came across the explosives.

DySP further stated that they are yet to conclude if these bombs are crude or country-made and said, "We are waiting for FSL (Forensic Scientific Laboratory) reports".

The fresh row over discovery of country-made bombs in Manchikallu ahead of elections, has heightened tensions in the area.
