Anthill Ventures, an investment and speed-scaling platform for early-growth stage startups, along with its network of investors, on Thursday announced that they have invested Rs 10 million in Rooter Sports Technologies Private Limited. This investment marks another milestone in Anthill's foray into the sports technology and Media & Entertainment (M&E) space.

The startup will leverage the funds to focus on its growth in India and expand its footprint to Europe with partners in that region. Anthill Studio will enable Rooter to connect with corporate giants who will further help them to venture into international markets. Rooter will also use the funds to expand its client base to B2B customers and focus on growing its social feed.

Prasad Vanga, Founder & CEO, Anthill Ventures, said, “Rooter is now well positioned to disrupt the sports technology space. We are positive that the value we provide in addition to this investment will significantly help Rooter innovate further and accelerate its growth. For Anthill, Rooter is a classic example of an attractive investment in the M&E space”.

As part of the Anthill Studio accelerator programme, Rooter was able to focus on monetization, particularly in data positioning and scaling by reaching out to prospective clients with sports engagement solutions. Through Anthill Studio, Rooter was able to onboard two clients. The startup was able to build on its SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) product offering as a fan engagement solution to sports teams, leagues and media companies across the world.

Piyush, Founder & CEO, Rooter, said, “Partnering with Anthill gives us capital and market reach: the two most important ingredients for exponential growth at Rooter. Also, their sizeable global network of investors and experts in the sports technology space will provide valuable guidance in numerous operational areas".

Headquartered in Delhi and founded in 2016, Rooter is the brainchild of Piyush, Akshat Goel and Dipesh Agarwal. Rooter is the only sports technology platform in India that has seamlessly managed to integrate live sports engagement with social interactions along with live scores and data for eight sports.

Rooter is also the first platform in India to provide scorecards in eight Indian languages thereby targeting the 250 million non-English speaking Indian sports fans. Over the years, Rooter has successfully covered sports like cricket, hockey, tennis, football, basketball, badminton, motorsport and kabaddi, and it has connected 2.4 million sports fans through its app and web platform.
