On Saturday, a 24-year-old woman from Kengeri was allegedly gang raped by six men in Kanakapura, Ramnagar district in the early hours of Sunday morning, according to a Bangalore Mirror report.

According to BM, around 8pm on Saturday, Rekha, said to be a sex-worker by the police, was reportedly directed by her pimp to a car with two men inside. She negotiated a deal of Rs 2,500 and then got into the car.

BM reported that on their way towards Doddalahalli in Kanakapura, four more men joined in and the vehicle later headed to Mullahalli Betta  about 23 km away, where they reached by midnight.

The victim was allegedly inebriated when the men started having sexual intercourse with her one after another. Rekha could barely walk as she was under the influence of alcohol.

While three of the accused left on their two-wheeler, the other three drove back with Rekha, said the report.

BM reported that later, at around 3am, one of them slapped her, snatched the Rs 2500 paid to her, dumped her by the side of the road and fled. An auto rickshaw driver, who found her, took her to jurisdictional Sathnur police station.

The report said that Rekha took nearly five hours to gain conscience and was taken to the hospital, where she underwent medical tests.

She directed cops to the place where she was allegedly gang raped and police personnel found the place with glass bottles, plastic cups, and cigarette butts that they took as evidence.

BM quoted Deputy superintendent of police (Channapatna) Dhananjaya V saying, “The victim was brought to Sathnur police station by 5 am, and she was still under the influence of alcohol. Two men first picked her up and paid her Rs 2,500, and four others joined them later. She has alleged that all six had sexual intercourse with her, and hit her on the face, before taking the money back and leaving her on the road. She has been sent to a hospital for a medical test, and we have taken up a case of gang-rape. The accused are from Bengaluru too, and a team of our officers have already left to the city to track them down. We are also searching for the victim's pimp, who may have the mobile numbers of the accused.“

A case of gang-rape, criminal intimidation, voluntarily causing hurt and unlawful assembly have been filed under the IPC by the Sathnur police.
