The results of Andhra Pradesh's Engineering Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test, commonly called EAMCET, was released on Tuesday.
Officials said that in case the students had not received their results, they could check the same by visiting EAMCET's official website at sche.ap.gov.in/MCET and entering their hall ticket number. However, given the large number of people who have been attempting to access the website, it has been down owing to a technical snag. An alternate website (http://eamcet.tsche.gov.in/) where students can check their results, is also facing similar issues.
Speaking to reporters in Vijayawada, Professor S Vijaya Raju, chairman of the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) said, "The tests were held online between April 20 and April 24 in ten sessions. Over 100 centres were set up across the state."
The total marks for each paper was 160 and to pass, a student needed to secure 25% of the total marks, i.e 40.
"In engineering steam, 1,85,711 students appeared for the exam and 1,30,160 of them passed. This means we have seen a pass percentage of 74.39%. In the agriculture stream, a total of 81,916 students appeared for the exam, out of which 65,512 or 83.61% of the students passed," Prof Vijaya Raju said.
"The ranks and marks have been communicated to the registered mobile numbers and email ids provided by the candidates. The students can download the same. The counselling will begin from the second week of June," he added.
Conducted by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) in Kakinada on behalf of the APSCHE, several thousand students who have completed their Class 12, take the state-level entrance examination, which is taken into consideration by most institutions in the state, which offer undergraduate courses in the fields of engineering, medicine and agriculture.
In April this year, results for Intermediate first and second year students, the state board equivalent of Class 11 and Class 12 in Andhra Pradesh, were released simultaneously.
Out of the 9.65 lakh students who appeared for the exams, 3.3 lakh students had failed and the pass percentage of the Intermediate second year (general) was 72%. As far as the first year students were concerned, only 60% of them had cleared the exam.
