The Andhra Pradesh government is believed to be mulling over the decision to take over the assets of Jagati Publications, Janani Infra and a few other firms belonging to Opposition leader and YSRCP chief Jaganmohan Reddy, that were attached by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
According to a Times of India report, the AP government may invoke the provisions of the AP Special Courts Act, 2015, to confiscate the `ill-gotten' properties. The bill is awaiting the Presidential assent and once the Act is notified, the government will set up special courts and initiate a time-bound trial before formally taking over the `disproportionate' assets.
“The state government has answered all the queries posed by the Union law ministry and the bill is now waiting for the Presidential assent. This will pave way to recover the public money siphoned off by corrupt people,“ Dammalapati Srinivas, AP additional advocate general, told TOI.
The ED has 'attached' these properties to the YSRCP chief in connection with a disproportionate assets case.
