YSRCP chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday met with Governor E S L Narasimhan in Hyderabad and filed a representation against the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in Andhra Pradesh alleging misuse of official machinery.

Speaking to reporters after meeting the Governor, the Leader of Opposition said, “We have lodged a complaint with the Governor against Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, who has appointed his own henchmen in crucial places to help TDP in all ways during the elections. TDP has resorted to attacks on the day of poling and later. Naidu has misused the police machinery and they're foisting false cases using people in the government.”

He also questioned the incident related to Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao, where the senior leader and his gunman were heckled, allegedly by YSRCP workers.

“The Speaker went into a polling booth and locked himself up creating a vicious atmosphere and provoked violence, and the police did not file a case against him but registered cases against YSRCP workers in Guntur and other places,” Jagan alleged.

He also demanded that the strongrooms where EVMs were stored across the state should be guarded and strict vigilance should be maintained by pressing paramilitary forces into service.

Since the polling day, Naidu has also been alleging that EVMs could potentially be tampered with.

Speaking about this, Jagan said, “These theatrics are not new for Naidu as he always wanted someone or something to blame for his failure. Instead of gracefully accepting the people’s verdict, he has been trying to make a mockery of it. It was the same EVMs that were used in 2014 when his coalition had won, we did not complain. Just three months before the general elections, Congress won Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Karnataka and there were no complaints.”

“Though we had earlier given the same complaint to Election Commission, we have lodged the complaint to the Governor seeking his intervention to stall the growing attacks on YSRCP cadre and check the misuse of state funds,” the party said in a press release.
