The first look of the Rajinikanth starrer Kaala created ripples in the film industry with movie buffs raving about the star’s looks and style. But what caught the attention of Anand Mahindra, the owner of vehicle manufacturing major, Mahindra Group, was the Thar SUV used for the photo shoot.

Tweeting the poster, the Chairman posted: “When the legend @superstarrajini uses a car as a throne, it becomes a legend...#Thar.” This was soon followed by another tweet which evinced his interest in purchasing the vehicle. His next tweet read, “Whoever knows the whereabouts of the #Thar used for this shoot please let us know. I’d like to acquire it for our company auto museum.”

When the request came from the Chairman of the company himself, the production house that is bankrolling Kaala, Wunderbar responded immediately with, “@anandmahindra Hi Sir. Let us know whom to contact, will share our contact details.@dhanushkraja @vinod_wunderbar.”

Anand Mahindra seems to be so set on acquiring the Thar that he replied to a user’s tweet who had pointed out that it was photo-shopped but that it was a collector’s item nevertheless.

Kaala went on to the floors on May 28 in Mumbai with Rajinikanth joining the sets. Directed by Pa Ranjith, the film is produced by Dhanush K Raja’s Wunderbar Films. While Rajini plays the lead role in the movie, it also has Huma Qureshi and Anjali Patil as the female leads. The film has an impressive star cast with Nana Patekar and Samuthirakani included to the star cast.

Santosh Narayanan will be composing the tunes for this flick with Murali G cranking the camera and A Sreekar Prasad editing it. With the shooting commencing in Mumbai, plans are on to shoot the film continuously for 40 days and have it released in 2018.
