This is a battery-operated speaker but performs almost all the functions that the Amazon Echo range of speakers are designed to do.

The other features, like delivering the news and weather alerts and alarm functions can all be activated by voice commands. A speaker driver takes care of these.
At that level, there is hardly anything different with the Amazon Echo Input Portable from the other Amazon Echo and Echo Dot speakers. The portability through the battery is the novelty here.
