A woman in her twenties was allegedly gangraped six months ago in the outskirts of Bengaluru but the case came to light only on Wednesday.

The pregnant survivor came forward to file a complaint on Wednesday with the Bengaluru Rural Police.

Neha* was allegedly raped by four men, who threatened to upload explicit videos of her online if she did not go along with their plan.

Following the complaint, the Bengaluru Rural Police have arrested and booked four men under IPC section 376.

According to Bengaluru Rural Superintendent of Police Amit Singh, the four men had taken explicit videos of Neha with her boyfriend.

“On April 28, the four men roughed up the woman’s boyfriend after taking their explicit videos. The next day, they told the girl to meet them near a nearby hillock,” SP Amit said.

Scared that the four men would circulate the videos on WhatsApp, Neha went to meet them at the designated spot.

The four men allegedly raped her then. Neha did not share details of the incident or the trauma she went through with anyone. When her parents found out that she was pregnant, she narrated the entire episode to them.

“The woman was really scared to come forward and file the complaint as she feared the men would upload videos of her online. Her parents got her to come forward and file the complaint,” SP Amit added.

In her complaint, Neha has expressed suspicion that her former boyfriend too was involved in the plan. The police are now questioning him as well.

“The woman gave us a detailed description of the accused, which made it easy for us to nab them. At this point, we can say that she knew the accused before the incident occurred,” the SP added.
