Akhil Akkineni’s film with director Bommarilu Bhaskar went on the floors a few weeks ago and is making good progress. This untitled film is produced jointly by Allu Aravind and Bunny Vas. On the genre of this film, we hear that it will be an emotional family drama. Akhil reportedly agreed to do this project after the director convinced him with its strong storyline line, say sources.
While this film is still in progress, Akhil has finalised his next project. Reports have emerged that the young actor has agreed to star in a Mithran directorial. The director apparently floored him with a breezy entertainer, as per sources, and Akhil has agreed to hop on board. The film is expected to go on to the floors in summer next year.
Soon after wrapping up Bhaskar's film, Akhil will be moving over to another Prashanth Varma directorial. The shooting of this film is likely to commence in December. According to the industry grapevine, Nivetha Thomas has been approached to play the female lead. We hear that it is a crime thriller that will be bankrolled under the banner Matinee Entertainments. Both Akhil, as well as Nivetha Thomas, will be sporting new looks in the film.
Director PS Mithran made a big splash with Vishal’s Irumbu Thirai, which also featured Arjun and Samantha Akkineni in crucial roles. The film was produced by Vishal Film Factory. The film received positive reviews for its story, screenplay, performances and a sequel titled Irumbu Thirai 2 is in the works but it is not being directed by Mithran.
The director’s on-going project is the Sivakarthikeyan starrer Hero. Pairing up with Sivakarthikeyan in the film will be two heroines, Kalyani Priyadarshan and Ivana as the female leads with Arjun, Vivek and Robo Shankar forming the supporting star cast. RD Raja and KJR Studios are bankrolling this venture. George C Williams and Ruben are in charge of the film’s cinematography and editing respectively.
