Reports are rife in Kollywood that Ajith’s Vivegam and Vishal’s Thupparivalan may clash at the box office. While it is widely anticipated that the Ajith starrer Vivegam will be out at the theatres on August 10 to cash in on the long Independence Day weekend, sources point out that Vishal is also eyeing the same weekend and his upcoming film Thupparivalan may hit the screens on August 11.
Interestingly, another film, Spyder, which is a bilingual made simultaneously in Telugu as well as Tamil, is also poised for release on August 11. This film, directed by AR Murugadoss, will mark Tollywood star Mahesh Babu’s debut in Kollywood. If the three films decide on the same weekend, it’s going to be a triangular contest at the box office.
Vivegam, starring Ajith, Kajal Agarwal, Akshara Haasan, Vivek Oberoi, Arav Choudhury and others, is directed by Siva. The team is currently in Serbia busy with the final leg of shooting. Anirudh is composing music for this venture which is being bankrolled by TG Thyagarajan’s Sathya Jyothi Films.
Thupparivalan, directed by Mysskin, stars Vishal as the hero with Anu Emmanuel, Andrea Jeremiah, Prasanna and Vinay in important roles. The film is produced jointly by Vishal and Nanthagopal’s Vishal Film Factory and Madras Enterprises.
