Ajith’s upcoming thriller Nerkonda Paarvai will be releasing worldwide on August 8. The news was confirmed on Monday via a poster from the makers. Earlier, the release date was set as August 10, just before Independence Day. Nerkonda Paarvai stars Ajith and Shraddha Srinath in pivotal roles.
The film, a remake of the hit Hindi movie Pink starring Taapsee Pannu and Amitabh Bachchan in the lead, has been directed by H Vinoth of Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru fame. This project is the result of producer Boney Kapoor’s long time wish of wanting to work with Ajith in Tamil.
The film’s trailer which was released in June received a good response from the star’s fans. The film will have Vidya Balan in a crucial role, and will also star Andrea Tariang and Abhirami Venkatachalam in important roles. The trailer included a fight sequence with Ajith. The original did not have any such stunts and it appears that the makers have modified the narrative to cater to Ajith's fanbase.
This will be the producer’s return to the industry after 25 years. This project marks the Tamil debut of Vidya Balan. While Yuvan Shankar Raja has been signed to compose the music, Nirav Shah be in charge of the cinematography and Gokul Chandran will do the editing.
The original was directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury who received the National Film Award in 2008 for his Bengali film Antaheen. In addition to receiving critical acclaim, Pink was a box office success, too.
Pink won several awards including National Award for Best Film on Social Issues in 2017 and was also nominated for Best Asian Film in Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards the same year.
Officially launched on 14 December 2018, Nerkonda Paarvai will most likely release in China in November or December.
