Airtel to take on Jio Prime, relaunches its flagship customer program ‘AirtelThanks’

Bharti Airtel has re-launched its flagship customer program AirtelThanks. The program is designed to deliver exclusive rewards and possibly take on Jio, which has similar offerings for its ‘Prime’ subscribers.

Airtel first launched this in October 2018, where it offered several rewards such as  rewards including access to Wynk, Airtel TV, Airtel Books, Amazon Prime, ZEE5 and Netflix subscriptions and exclusive offers on sales on e-commerce platforms.

The new program now is tiered in its offering: Silver, Gold and Platinum. The benefits are powered by Airtel’s partnerships with content brands like Amazon Prime, Netflix, Zee5, Wynk music, device brands and others.

Under the Silver tier, users get basic content from AirtelTV and Wynk. With Gold, customers get access to many add-on telecom benefits, and value access on premium content or financial services. With Platinum, customers will get VIP service from Airtel, premium content, e-books, device protection, and exclusive invites and priority access to events and sales.

The app, which has been re-named “Airtel Thanks” uses strong data-science and segmentation algorithms to customize the user experiences, based on user interests and profiles.

Additionally, Airtel also launched a new prepaid bundle at Rs 299 to offer 28 days of Amazon Prime membership along with 2.5GB data/day, unlimited calls to any network and 100 SMS/day. Amazon Prime membership is also available with Airtel Infinity Postpaid Plans.

The Amazon Prime membership gets activated through AirtelThanks app. Then access is available Prime Video on all supported devices.

This prepaid bundle is available at all retailers selling recharge, all Airtel Stores and across all online platforms including the AirtelThanks app and www.airtel.in. Customers can also buy this pack online on Amazon.in and Amazon Pay. Customers continue to enjoy the Prime membership, as long as they are active on the pack.

Similarly, a Rs 299 prepaid pack from Jio comes with 3GB of 4G data each day for a validity of 28 days. This includes free voice calling, 100 national SMS per day and a complimentary subscription to Jio Apps including JioTV, JioCinema, and JioSaavn (Jio Music).

Vodafone, on the other hand, has a Rs 255 prepaid plan, which offers unlimited calling with 2GB of 4G data per day, also for 28 days. Through this, users get access to the Vodafone Play ap, which has content from across various streaming platforms.
