Two days after the OPS faction formed a seven-member panel for negotiations, it is said that the merger talks between both the factions of the AIADMK party will start on Monday.

The committee for AIADMK-Amma faction is headed by Lok Sabha Member R Vaithilingam, while former minister KP Munusamy heads the panel of PT Amma faction led by ex-chief minister O Panneerselvam.

The New Indian Express reported that a senior minister of the AIADMK-Amma faction said that they are ready for the talks as and when they come to the AIADMK party headquarters. ‘Ma Foi’ K Pandiarajan from the OPS faction said that the place and time of the talks will be announced on Monday.

Meanwhile, the state finance minister D Jayakumar has said that he is ready to give up his ministerial post to O Panneerselvam if required.

Addressing the media on Sunday, Jayakumar said, “If someone has to sacrifice for the welfare of the party, let it be me. I am ready to forego my finance and all other portfolios for them (OPS faction), reported The Times of India.

He added that they are ready to listen to the demands of the OPS faction. He asked the OPS faction to come to the headquarters on Mondayfor talks.

Forest minister Dindigul C Sreenivasan said that Edappadi K Palaniswami government will complete its full term.  There are also reports that both the factions have reached a compromise and the general secretary and the chief minister's post will remain with Edapaddi K Palanisamy and the deputy chief minister and the post of party treasurer will be taken by O Panneerselvam.
