Hyderabad Central University Students Union General Secretary and Students Federation of India (SFI) member Raju Kumar Sahu quit SFI on Wednesday over differences with the radical ideology of SFI and Ambedkar Students Association(ASA).

Twenty-three-year-old 2nd year MCA student in Hyderabad Central University, Raju said, ‘’the reason behind me quitting SFI is the radical ideology of SFI and Ambedkar Students Association(ASA) and I strongly oppose their ideologies’’.

When asked whether he will continue his position of General Secretary or not he said, ’I will continue as general secretary for the welfare of student community’’.

Raju came forward because he is unable to stand the contradictions and the wrong manner in which the Rohith Vemula movement is being taken forward by JAC, SFI and ASA. He adds, ’My loneliness and alienation are affecting my studies and also apparently driving me towards the unfortunate path undertaken by Rohith Vemula. I think coming into the open and getting distanced from the wrong way would save me from the doom’’.

According to Raju, the state of affairs at SFI presently, is murky. After working for quite some time in SFI, Raju realized that the office-bearers of the Union cannot express their voice independently.

Raju also believes that the funds for the Rohith Vemula agitation were funded by Congress and other left parties. Though he is not sure about this, but he strongly believes that the Congress is helping students to continue the agitation, and the best proof is Rahul Gandhi’s visits to the University.

‘’It’s been 5 months now that we are fighting for the justice for Rohith Vemula but did anything happen? Did Rohith Vemula get justice? I too want justice for Rohith Vemula but not in this way, we should go for a CBI enquiry rather than running behind VC’s resignation’’, Raju adds.

He said, ‘’ I don’t understand why we are only concentrating on VC’s resignation when it is still not proved that he is the culprit, I feel if he is the culprit he should definitely be punished but just because we are running’s behind VC’s resignation we are missing the motive behind our agitation. We should believe in our Constitution instead of fighting and wasting time like this’’.

The real losers of the entire game are none other than the common students, who have suffered in terms of placements. Reputed companies like Oracle have refused to come to our campus recruitment and today the image of HCU is tarnished and a genuine student is in confusion whether to join the university or not, he adds.

Raju only wants to give this message which he believes the students should follow, ’We should believe the slogan of ‘Satyamev Jayate’. We have to believe on our Constitution, we should maintain the beauty of our University. And I also welcome all the students who want to join Hyderabad Central University.
